All the tips you need to finish your canvas

Completing its canvas
Once the work is finished, it is varnished to give it its final ornament and longevity.
J.G. Vibert Varnish
Varnishing is an essential step in enhancing and protecting an oil painting. It can be done in several stages.
Here, for example, with J.G. Vibert retouching varnish, you can eliminate any clogging and pre-varnish your final work. Flexible, colourless and non-yellowing, this temporary varnish dries to an even satin gloss finish. As its name suggests, it is not definitive and allows you to temporarily protect your work and rework certain parts of the painting before applying a definitive varnish.
Final Varnish
The final varnish protects your work from dust and UV rays with a satin finish. Non-reflective, transparent and perfectly even, it is ideal for work using traditional mediums and alkyds.
It can only be applied once the paint has dried, i.e. after at least 4 weeks, using a clean flat brush (spalter), first in criss-cross layers and then in final horizontal layers.
Your work can then be displayed with confidence.
Clean the brushes
After each painting session, a good cleaning of the brushes prepares them for the next session and prolongs their life. Use Lefranc Bourgeois cleaning fluid to ensure your brushes are always ready for use!
